The base camp where the trek begins is from Aru Valley, situated in the Anantnag district which takes around 45 minutes to reach from Pahalgam’s main market. You can hire a local taxi to reach Aru. Pahalgam is 100 km far from Srinagar and it takes 12km more to reach Aru Valley. It is better to start the journey early to reach the camp before evening. On the way, the changing landscapes, from the chaos of Srinagar city to the lush meadows of Pahalgam, snow capped mountains offer a visual feast to the natural beauty of Kashmir.
